Welcome to Mutt Mischief!
Here you will find primarily fleece tug toys and paw print paintings, however we will be adding more stuff soon, so keep checking back!
Where did this all start?
So why did Mutt Mischief come to be? It originally came from a strong desire to create, and shortly thereafter a new-found ability to braid. Fleece tug toys are braided in either the traditional braid using 3 strands, ot in the 4-plait using 4 strands. Each braid gives a different texture and pattern. The paintings come from my experience with elephants painting, and so I wanted to share the fun with my dog. Currently we only do paw print paintings, but eventually I'd like to make actual paintings - done with a paintbrush, by my dog - available.
Who makes the paintings?
Currently, I have only one dog, and he is the dog that helps me with these paintings. He is a male white boxer named Gavroche de la Rue (Gavroche for short). He was rescued in 2008. He was brought into the vet clinic where I work after someone found him as a stray. The person who found him was unable to keep him, and after weeks of trying to find a home I finally found myself in a position where I could have a dog. It has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. In addition to painting, Gavroche is my "practice dog" for dog training. We have just begun to compete in Rally Obedience and he has earned two legs of his Rally Novice title, earning a 3rd place on his first run and 2nd place on his second run. He has also passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
Why should I choose Mutt Mischief products?
Our paintings are unique. The tug toys are great fun, high quality, and affordable. But most importantly, when you buy from Mutt Mischief, you are helping other people.
I am autistic, and I am currently waiting on my service dog candidate. I will be flying out to Seattle in May to pick up Logan, a 1 year old tri-color male smooth collie. This dog will be trained to be my service dog to help me live more independently. Since I am purchasing and training my own dog privately, I cannot make use of service dog vouchers, and I am responsible for all costs. Proceeds from Mutt Mischief will go towards the cost of the dog and the cost of flying out to get him in late May. You can see pictures of Logan here: http://www.moxiecollies.moonfruit.com/#/logan/4534790341
After I have Logan at home, a portion of the profits every month will be donated to a service dog or autism-related charity/organization. Starting in June, the charity will be Karl's Kids http://www.karlskidsprogram.com/, and every 2 or 3 months a different charity will be chosen. Part of the profits will go to pay for my education at Bergin University of Canine Studies in Santa Rosa, CA, where I plan to earn a master's degree in Assistance dog Education. Eventually, I hope Mutt Mischief products will help support my own service dog school to train dogs for other autistic adults.
